According to outsourcing group Capita, the public sector could save billions of pounds each year if companies turned to outsourcing rather than conducting essential services in house. Many companies are failing to notice the benefits of outsourcing, and as a result are wasting money which could be better spent elsewhere.
Capita’s Chief Executive commented earlier on this week, “When you can see local authorities closing libraries, swimming pools, its criminal. It's a political agenda. Billions of pounds could be saved and the public wouldn't notice the difference.”
For companies that have suffered because of the recession, outsourcing could be a way of saving money. However, outsourcing companies are keen to express the fact that service is not compromised when choosing to outsource, in fact it can even be improved.
One call centre, London based, commented, “We deliver a much sought after service which many of our clients are impressed with. Our telephone answering service is second to none, something many companies would fail to achieve in house. Call centre outsourcing is ideal for any company that has incoming calls from potential clients or clients, and who fails to answer every call to a high level of customer satisfaction. If more companies decided to outsource, they could save so much money in the long run but also savings can be seen straight away.”
It is not only call outsourcing which could save you money, but also outsourcing your HR or IT departments. This means you do not have to run your own in house department saving you money on office space and permanent salaries.
Thorntons is one company that has decided to outsource. Its speaker said, “This, together with the ongoing benefits of our procurement review and the recent restructuring of our head office cost base, should deliver a full-year benefit of £2 million that will flow through in full in the 2012/13 financial year.”
These savings are massive and very valuable in the current climate where every penny counts. Outsourcing is a permanent solution that can actually build and grow over time as the outsourced company get to know your business inside out, adapting and changing flexibly to your changing ways of operating. This is useful for many companies that require an outsourced business to fully understand the company and be able to adapt to changing needs and requirements as business demands alter.
